The Munger Volunteer Firemen Corps will sponsor its 59th Annual Munger Potato Festival, July 25, 26, 27, 28, 2013. Schmidt Amusement Rides begin at 4pm. And NEW this year is DOLLAR DAY. On Thursday only, beginning at 4pm till close, a $1.00 ticket gets you on any Carnival Ride. At 7pm there will be the selection of the 2013 Potato Queen and King in front of the Merritt Township Hall. At 7:30 PM, a Figure Eight Derby. This is the only type of Auto racing where cars cross in opposite directions while at full racing speed. From 8:30pm to 12:30am, Mandi Layne & Lost Highway Band will provide music in the Big Tent.
On Friday, Schmidt Amusement Carnival rides begin at 1pm. At 7:30pm, there will be a Demolition/Figure 8 combo derby. Sonny Hall and U.S.A. Demolition Team will be back again this year. Men and women will compete for cash prizes of up to $2500. There will be 5 action packed heats with over 50 cars destroyed. Music in the Big Tent will be provided by Steve Armstrong and the 25 Cent Beer Band, 9pm to 1am.
Saturday New this year Munger Spud Run 5k run/walk. Race begins at 9am, Walkers at 9:02am. Entry forms are available on our web site or by calling Jacob Bremer at 989-615-3793.
“Kids Day” begins at11am with a Children’s Pedal Pull. There will be lots of other activities for the Kids. Potato Toss, Mr. Potato Head decorating, Potato Sack Races, and much more. All activities are held inside the Big Tent and are FREE. Special pay one prices for the Schmidt Amusement Carnival will begin at noon.
Back again this year on Saturday another Figure Eight Race. The race will begin at 7pm with the gates opening at 5pm. At least 56 cars will participate in six heats. In the Big Tent, music will be provided by Steel Wheels 8:30pm to 12:30am. At 9pm there will be a “Teen Dance” in the Firemen Hall. 
Sunday at 1pm will be our Annual Parade, which is lead by the Potato Queen and King and Court. There will be floats, fire engines, and marching bands. Rotating in the Big Tent from 2pm to 9pm will be The Josh Ramses Band and Laurie Middlebrook. Schmidt Amusement Company will provide Carnival rides with special pay one prices beginning at noon.
Also NEW this year Whispering Pines Mobile Zoo will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Come see a variety of healthy well behaved exotic and farm animals.
Purchase Schmidt Amusement ride tickets in advance at, B & D Mini Market and John’s Bar & Party Store in Munger. Save $3.00 off regular prices. Las Vegas style Casino, Bingo and Big Six Wheel will be operating every day.
St. Norbert Catholic Church will be operating the Food Tent through out the Festival and featuring a Chicken Barbecue beginning at 11am on Sunday. Also on sale during the Festival will be our famous Potato Bratwurst made with Munger Potatoes.
On Wednesday July 24th the entire community is invited to a Christian Concert in the Big Tent at 7pm, sponsored by the Munger Area Churches. Although not part of the festival, we wanted to take advantage of the facilities and invite everyone to attend before the festival begins. This event is free but a free will donation will be accepted.
Parking is Free and there is no admittance charge to enter the festival grounds.
