The Munger Volunteer Firemen Corps will sponsor its 56th Annual Munger Potato Festival, July 29, 30, 31, August 1, 2010. The events start Thursday at 7:30 PM with a Figure Eight Derby. This is the only type of Auto racing where cars cross in opposite directions while at full racing speed. At 7pm there will be the selection of the 2010 Potato Queen and King in front of the Merritt Township Hall. From 8pm to 1am 25 Cent Beer Band will provide music in the Big Tent. Schmidt Amusement Rides begin at 4pm.
On Friday at 7:30 there will be a Demolition/Figure 8 combo derby. Sonny Hall and U.S.A. Demolition Team will be back again this year. Men and women will compete for cash prizes of up to $2500. There will be 5 action packed heats with over 50 cars destroyed. Music in the Big Tent will be provided by Jerk Water Town Boys, 9pm to 1am. Schmidt Amusement Carnival rides begin at 1pm.
Saturday is, “Kids Day” with a Children’s Pedal Pull at 11am. There will be lots of other activities for the Kids. Potato Toss, Mr. Potato Head decorating, Potato Sack Races, and much more. All activities are held inside the Big Tent and are FREE. Special pay one prices for the Schmidt Amusement Carnival will begin at noon.
Back again this year on Saturday will be the addition of another Figure Eight Race. The race will begin at 7pm with the gates opening at 5pm. At least 56 cars will participate in six heats. In the Big Tent music will be provided by Steel Wheels 8pm to 1am. At 9pm there will be a “Teen Dance” in the Firemen Hall. 
Sunday at 1pm will be our Annual Parade, which is lead by the Potato Queen and King and Court. There will be floats, fire engines, and many other marching bands. Entertaining and rotating in the Big Tent from 2pm to 9pm will be 25 Cent Beer Band and The Music Doctors.
Schmidt Amusement Company will provide Carnival rides with special pay one prices beginning at noon. Purchase Schmidt Amusement ride tickets in advance at, B & D Mini Market and John’s Bar & Party Store in Munger. Save $5.00 off regular prices. Tickets on sale now. Las Vegas style Casino, Bingo and Big Six Wheel will be operating every day. Tons of FREE POTATOS will be given away Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Trinity St. Norbert Catholic Church will be operating the Food Tent through out the Festival and featuring a Chicken Barbecue beginning at 11am on Sunday. Also on sale during the Festival will be our famous Potato Bratwurst made with Munger Potatoes.
On Wednesday July 28th the Munger Area Churches, will sponsor a Christian Concert in the entertainment tent. Although not part of the festival we wanted to take advantage of the facilities and invite the entire community to attend before the festival begins. Beginning at 7pm. This event is free but a free will donation will be accepted.
Parking is Free and there is no admittance charge to enter the festival grounds.
